Judge Approves A&P Bankruptcy Exit Plan

13 UFCW Locals Ratify Contract with A&P

The 13 local UFCW unions that have agreements with A&P -- including Local 1776 -- have ratified contract modifications with the company.  See the attachment for details.

UFCW and RWDSU locals sign tentative agreements on A&P bankruptcy emergence; 1776 sets ratification meetings for Tues., Nov. 29

After many months of intense negotiations with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Company (A&P) -- owners of A&P, Pathmark, Waldbaum's, Food Emporium, SuperFresh -- all 13 UFCW/RWDSU Locals have signed tentative agreements with the company that will aid A&P as it seeks to emerge from bankruptcy.  For the full text of the UFCW's statement, visit the attached pdf.   Local 1776 has scheduled two meetings for members to discuss and vote on its tentative agreement for Tuesday, November 29 at the Walton Rd.

A&P Contract Ratification Meetings set for Tuesday, November 29

Meetings regarding the proposed modifications to the current collective bargaining agreement between UFCW Local 1776 and A&P (Superfresh and Pathmark) have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2011at the Local 1776 Meeting Hall, 3031-A Walton Rd., Plymouth Meeting, PA  19462.  A&P members should make every effort to attend one of these meetings, as a vote will be taken:

  • 9:30 am Tuesday, Nov. 29
  • 6:30 pm Tuesday, Nov. 29

Judge OKs Yucaipa's A&P Deal

 MONTVALE, N.J. -- The judge in A&P's federal bankruptcy case on Monday approved a plan for the company to seek to emerge from Chapter 11 early next year behind a $490 million going-private transaction headed by Yucaipa Cos. Creditors could vote on the plan next month.

 Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., relying on financing from an investor group that includes Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Cos, proposed a bankruptcy plan to exit court protection.

Statement of Friday, November 4 from UFCW International and its Locals re: A&P proceedings

The UFCW International and its Locals involved in the A&P bankruptcy proceedings issued the attached statement today, Friday, Nov. 4, 2011.  Local 1776 has scheduled two meetings for A&P members for next Wednesday, November 9 -- one at 9:30 am and one at 6:30 pm.  Both meetings will be at the Walton Road office.  Members should make every effort to attend either of the meetings.
