Acme Members Overwhelmingly Reject Company's Proposal
Meeting at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, Local 1776's Acme members in a 95 percent to five percent vote rejected the company's "last, best and final" proposal that would gut their health care benefits and decimate their pension benefits.

Hateful Vandal Strike 1776 Billboard and Building in Biglerville
Defacing the Local's Obama-Biden billboard and its office building, spray-painters wrote "Commies" under the cover of night. President Wendell W. Young Testifies in Support of Blues' Merger
UFCW Local 1776 President Wendell W. Young, IV testified in favor of the proposed merger between Independence Blue Cross and Highwark, its counterpart in Western Pennsylvania. Young said that Blue Cross "consistently offered the best deals to our members."

Kessler Elected to Full Term as Secretary-Treasurer

UFCW Locals 1776, 23 and 27 Give Tentative Approval on PLCB Contracts; 1776 Sets Four Meetings
The three UFCW locals representing the 2,800 employees in the Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits Shops have tentatively approved a four-year contract with the state. Local 1776 has scheduled four meetings for Sunday, Jan. 21, for members to discuss the proposal and to vote on it.

A November 28, 2006 news article in the Allentown Morning Call carried a misleading headline stating that the Local 1776 representation victory at Lehigh County's nursing home "angered some workers" -- the headline totally overlooking the the fact that a clear majority of the employees signed the card check authorizing Local 1776 to represent them.
