April 26, 2012 -- The United States Department of Agriculture has proposed a rule that would permit large poultry processing companies to speed up their lines to 175 bird kills a minute.

Please join us in urging Secretary Tom Vilsack to delay this rule until a comprehensive investigation on the impact of such a speed-up on poultry workers has been completed and reviewed.  You can submit a comment on online at http://www.regulations.gov or by sending mail to: Docket CLerk, U.S. Department of Agriculture, FSIS, Docket Clerk, Patriots Plaza 3, 355 E. Street SW, 8-163A, Mailstop 3782, Washington, DC  20250-3700.  Visit here for the story in this week's Nation describing the alreadfy difficult working conditions in our nation's poultry processing plants, and visit here for more details on the rule and a suggested message in English and Espanol to send to the Secretary.
