Jewish Labor Committee Honors Empire Kosher At Dinner in New York City                                          

In late June at a dinner in New York City the national office of the Jewish Labor Committee honored Empire Kosher for the relationship it has with its workforce.  Greg Rosenbaum, Empire CEO, accpeted the award on behalf of the company.  A group of Local 1776  Empire workers traveled to NYC to participate in the dinner, getting the opportunity to meet with UFCW International President Joe Hansen, who introduced Rosenbaum to the more than 600 people who attended the dinner.   From left are Michele Kessler, Local 1776 Secretary-Treasurer and Director of the Local's Northeast and Central Divisions; Trina Nieles; Carlos Renderos, Steward and member of the Local's Executive Board; John Rusak, lead agent in the Northeast Division; President Hansen; Verna Hosler; Ken Karasek, Union Representative; Peg Delancy, member of the Local's Executive Committee; Lois Grassmyer; Karren Morrow; and Stan Morder.

 

Local 1776 Helps Send Chris Carney to US House of Representatives

Local 1776 was an early supporter of Chris Carney in his successful run for the U.S. Congress torepresent Northeast Pennsylvania.  Meeting with the new Congressman in Washington during his swearing-in festivities were, from right:  Michele Kessler, 1776's Secretary-Treasurer and Director of the Northeast and Central Divisions; Wendell W. Young, IV, President of Local 1776; Congressman Carney; and John Meyerson, 1776's Director of Legislative and Political Action.

Also at the January 2007 swearing-in ceremonies, Michele Kessler had an opportunity to speak with U.S. Sen. and former First Lady Hillary Clinton.
