Dear UFCW Local 1776 Members,

Today is Election Day. Hopefully you took advantage of the early or mail-in voting options in your county, but if you did not, please get to the polls today and vote. 

This election is so very important for a whole group of reasons that we’ve discussed: hazard pay, retirement security, civil rights and much more. But the most obvious reason you should vote today for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is the Covid-19 pandemic. 

We are beginning to see a sharp increase in infections, hospitalizations and sadly, deaths. This virus pandemic has devasted families and nearly wiped out entire industries, leaving our national economy in dire straits. Our own local has seen nearly 1,000 members infected and sadly have lost 7 lives. 

It doesn’t have to be this way: if we have real leadership in the White House and national directives for social distancing and mask wearing, we can beat Covid-19. We desperately need Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to win this election. We need leaders who will bring us together, not divide us and pit one group of Americans against another. 

You may agree with him on some issues but you cannot deny that President Trump has clearly demonstrated an inability to unite our country. From the very beginning of his campaign, Donald Trump has fanned the flames of hate and division. 

In order for our nation to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic, we need leaders who will put people first. We need Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
