WWYIII & Earl Helfand Memorial Scholarship Contest

We are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Wendell W. Young III Memorial Scholarship Award AND the Earl Helfand Heart of Gold Community Service Award! This contest is designed to provide scholarships for members and their immediate family members to pursue their education.

Noah Horwatt – First Place: $5,000 - Noah has been a member at Giant Eagle for 2 ½ years and is attending Penn State University Park, majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Dia Shaji – Second Place: $2,500 - Dia, a Rite Aid member of 2 years is attending Thomas Jefferson University and majoring in Health Sciences (BS/Pre-Physician Assistant).
Gabrielle Murdoch – Third Place: $1,500 - Gabrielle has been a member working at Acme for 6 years, she is enrolled with Central State University and majoring in Business Management.
Kaylyn Trout – Earl Helfand Heart of Gold: $2,000 - Kaylyn’s father has been a UFCW 1776 member for 30 years, working at Hanover Foods. She is enrolled at Elizabethtown College and pursing a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Alex Sciullo – Honorable Mention: $500 - Alex is a UFCW 1776 member at Giant Eagle, studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
