    Updated On: May 20, 2015

[From the United Food and Commercial Workers International OnPoint Publication:]
UFCW Local 1776 hosted a series of immigration trainings that took place from February 26th – 28th at the Hazelton One Community Center in Hazelton, PA. Cargill and JBS Stewards and rank-and-file members were trained on Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and the process to become a U.S. citizen.

“This is a really good experience. It helped me better understand how I can help others.  This is very personal for me from my family experience from Haiti.  I loved this training,” said Guerdie Celas, UFCW Local 1776 member and JBS steward.

“This is an excellent training and I love that I got to participate. This is very important so we can help more members and their families and this makes our union stronger,” said Jorge Moncayo, UFCW Local 1776 member and Cargill steward.

The sessions are part of the UFCW’s Union Citizenship Action Network (UCAN) program. For more information visit the UFCW Immigration Guide site.
