Congratulations are in order for our Chippewa Giant Eagle Members for ratifying a new four-year contract! On January 21, 2022 a Tentative Agreement was reached between UFCW Local 1776KS and Chippewa Giant Eagle, the Ratification Vote took place on Sunday, February 13. 

Our Collective Bargaining Representatives teamed up with our Giant Eagle Members to deliver a four-year contract that includes general wage increases, significant increases to the starting rates of new employees, and a significant increase to the amount the company will contribute to our member’s 401(k), among other improvements. The contract also maintains current Health and Welfare Benefits.

We had a chance to speak with Chippewa Giant Eagle UFCW member and Steward, Joyce Bailey about some of the exciting inclusions in this contract for her and her fellow members. 

 “In my opinion this is the best contract we’ve had in my 26 years with Giant Eagle, a lot of the youngsters are pleased with the wage increases.” Joyce added that the fact that she and her co-workers will continue to pay $0 towards Health and Welfare Benefits is the greatest victory of all. “It’s pretty incredible that they didn’t touch our benefits, to me that means a lot. It just shows that they are looking out for us and care about our health.”
